Three killed, 25 injured in Knp bus crash
Kanpur, Sept. 22 -- As many as three people, including the driver of a sleeper bus, were killed and over 25 injured when the vehicle collided with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Pachor village in Tirva late Saturday night, police said.
Police said the Delhi-Ballia bound bus rammed into the truck after the driver, Ankit (29), apparently dozed off.
The truck was dragged nearly 100 metres, while the bus front was left mangled. Ankit died on the spot, trapped in the steering.
According to police, around 50 passengers were on board. Two passengers, Sanju (32) and Harsh (22) of Patna, died during treatment, while another lost both legs.
Others with minor injuries resumed their journeys after first aid.
The truck driver and cleaner fled the scene.
Police have launched a search and are tracing the bus operator.
Traffic was briefly disrupted but later cleared.
"Preliminary inquiry suggests the driver fell asleep. Investigation is underway," said circle officer (CO) Kulvir Singh....
