Dehradun, Oct. 24 -- Three people were killed and two others seriously injured when a Scorpio vehicle plunged into a 300-metre-deep gorge on Pavki Devi Road in Tehri district on Wednesday, officials said on Thursday. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the accident occurred when the vehicle, bearing registration number UK07AC3409, lost control near the village council area on Pavki Devi Road. The group was reportedly travelling from Shyampur Ghadi Mechak to Pavki Devi Nai to attend a wedding when the accident happened. Upon receiving information from the Gular police post, an SDRF rescue team led by Sub-Inspector Sawar Singh rushed to the spot with rescue equipment. Despite the difficult terrain and darkness, the team carried out an extensive rescue operation through the night in coordination with the local police. "Two youths were found seriously injured, while three others died on the spot. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment," said SDRF media in charge Vineet Devrani.
