Three juveniles escape from Deoria children's home
GORAKHPUR, Oct. 20 -- Three juveniles allegedly escaped from a government-run Children's Home in Deoria after breaking the window grills of their room. The incident took place late on Saturday night and came to light on Sunday morning.
According to Deoria Kotwali SHO Vinod Kumar, the absconding juveniles-aged between 16 and 17 years-are repeat offenders. Preliminary investigation suggests the escape was a well-planned act, possibly executed with the help of other inmates. Police have launched an extensive probe and are examining CCTV footage to trace their movements and identify any lapses in supervision.
Ram Kirpal, observer of the Children's Home, said 33 juveniles reside at the facility.
During a headcount in Room No. 2, three boys were found missing. He immediately informed district probation officer (DPO) Anil Kumar, who then reported the incident to the police.
During inspection, police and staff found the window grills broken, indicating that the juveniles fled sometime between midnight and the early morning hours. Kumar said, "The juveniles broke the iron window grills and escaped during the night. We are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting searches in nearby areas. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace them at the earliest."
Even after 36 hours of the incident, police had not found any concrete leads.
Two of the missing juveniles are brothers from a village under Khajni police station in Gorakhpur, while the third hails from Sant Kabir Nagar district.
Authorities have directed the Child Welfare Department to conduct an internal inquiry into the incident and submit a detailed report. htc...
