Three heritage areas planned in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 14 -- The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) will develop three of the city's oldest neighbourhoods as heritage areas. The selected neighbourhoods are Daraganj, Loknath, and Malviya Nagar.
These places are known for their rich cultural and historical value. The state government has given initial approval to the project. A full plan is now being prepared.
Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani confirmed that these areas will be developed to reflect their heritage look and feel. A budget of Rs.8 crore has been proposed for the work.
Municipal commissioner Seelam Sai Teja said the government will support the project fully. A survey and talks with local people will be done soon to help plan the work.
As part of the development, the streets will be cleaned and improved while keeping their traditional charm. Roads will be widened to make it easier for tourists to move around. Buildings will be painted in matching heritage colours to create a uniform look. Old food shops will be preserved in their original style and locations. Vintage-style street lighting will also be installed in important parts of these areas to enhance the overall heritage feel. Special care will be taken to protect old temples, buildings, and memories linked to famous people from the area, officials added. This step is part of a wider plan to promote tourism by showing the city's living history.htc...
