PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 17 -- A joint team of SOG (trans-Yamuna) and Naini police on Thursday claimed to have worked out a case in which Rs.17 lakh was stolen from the home of electricity contractor Arjun Singh in the Vinayak Nagar area of Naini on October 7. Police arrested three accused from under the new Yamuna Bridge on Bandh Road. Silver and gold jewellery, along with Rs 3.60 lakh were recovered from them. The team led by Naini SHO Brij Kishore Gautam and SOG in-charge (trans-Yamuna) Naveen Singh arrested the accused, identified as Salman of Bakshi Mohda, Wasim of Murga Darbar (ADA Colony) and Fateh Khan of Kasari Masari, GTB Nagar -- all under Kareli police station area. The Prayagraj vigilance team arrested an SDO of Fatehpur's Abunagar power station and his private clerk allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, officials said. The SDO had allegedly demanded the bribe from a consumer in exchange for revising his electricity bill. A case was registered at the Thariyanv police station in Fatehpur and both accused were handed over to the Fatehpur police. Three people were allegedly duped of over Rs.50 lakh by cyber tricksters in Prayagraj. As per reports, a youth, Ritesh Patel, was duped of Rs.31.91 after being befriended by someone claiming to be a young woman through Facebook. Besides, cyber fraudsters siphoned off Rs.6.20 lakh from the bank account of Shilpa Yadav of Jhunsi, on the pretext of online shopping. Meanwhile, Umarani Sharma of Minto Park in Civil Lines was duped of Rs.12.40 lakh through a link. Cyber police station in-charge Anil Verma said investigations were underway....
