Three held for alleged gang-rape of minor in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 8 -- Three accused, including two brothers, have been taken into custody in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a minor girl in Prayagraj.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of September 29, when the girl was abducted while returning from a Durga Puja event.
As per the FIR filed at the Airport Police Station, based on the victim's father's complaint, the 17-year-old girl was visiting her aunt in a village under the station's jurisdiction. She had gone out around 8 pm for Puja darshan when she was allegedly confronted by Anuj, his brother Rahul, and their friend Teerath.
The three allegedly threatened her with a knife, took her to a nearby forest, and gang-raped her before letting her go with further threats.
The girl returned home early the next morning and informed her family.
Police officials said all three accused have been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated.
Her statement was initially scheduled to be recorded before a magistrate on Tuesday, but it has been postponed to Wednesday.
As of now, her medical examination has not been conducted, they added.
Station house officer (SHO) Vinay Singh confirmed that the accused are in custody and that further proceedings will be carried out based on the victim's statement....
