Three from Gorakhpur family die in crash
Gorakhpur, June 10 -- Three members of a well-known family from Gorakhpur lost their lives on Monday morning when their car collided with a truck in Shahjahanpur district.
The crash took place near Village Jamua, under the Rouza Police Station area, at around 6:30 am. The family was on their way to Nainital for a trip.
The victims have been identified as Shivam Pandey,36, his three-year-old son Madhavan, and his sister Shweta Pandey,42.
They were declared dead at the hospital after being pulled from the wreckage. Shivam Pandey belonged to a respected political and hotelier family, locally known as "Malaoun ke Pandey", living under the Beli Par Police Station area in Gorakhpur.
Shweta Pandey was the wife of Dr NK Dwivedi, who works at the 100-bed TB hospital in Gorakhpur and lives in Malviya Nagar Colony, under Khorabar Police Station.
Three others were seriously injured in the accident. They are Shalini Pandey ,27, wife of Shivam Pandey, Angad Yadav, the driver, and Shivansh ,7, Shivam's elder son. All are receiving treatment and remain in critical condition.
Police said the car was completely crushed in the collision. All six passengers were trapped inside. A crane was used to rescue them from the vehicle, and they were rushed to the hospital.
The family was travelling in two cars, heading towards Nainital and Haridwar. Shivam's father, Krishna Kumar Pandey, said it was supposed to be a family holiday....
