Three booked for illegal stay of B'deshi youth
VARANASI, Dec. 25 -- Three persons have been booked for allowing a Bangladesh national to stay at a hotel in the Lanka area of Varanasi without filling the required Form C and without informing the local police, officials said.
Police said that the hotel was also found to be operating illegally, as its licence was invalid. The three persons, including hotel owner Subhankar Jain and two others, are named in the FIR registered at Lanka police station on Tuesday for violating rules regarding Form C for foreign guests and for failing to inform either the local police or the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU).
According to police, the Bangladeshi youth, Salik Das, stayed in the hotel in September this year. Neither the Form C was filled nor were the police and LIU informed about his stay, even though it is mandatory to fill the form and inform the authorities, added the officer. Assistant commissioner of police Gaurav Kumar said that the initial investigation revealed that the youth is a Bangladeshi Hindu pursuing engineering from an institute in Odisha....
