Threat letter to two Prayagraj college teachers: Case filed, police begin investigation
PRAYAGRAJ, March 24 -- Two teachers at Ishwar Sharan Degree College, a constituent college of Allahabad University, received a threat letter from an unknown individual, warning them of serious harm.
According to the complaint filed by prof Man Singh of the education department, the letter was sent through mail by an unidentified person.
The letter used abusive language and specifically threatened prof Man Singh and Dr Harshmani Singh of the college's economics department with life-threats.
Sanjay Singh, SHO, Colonelganj Police Station, said that a case has been registered against the unknown sender on Sunday, and a thorough investigation is underway. He assured that the individual responsible for sending the threatening letter would be identified soon and legal action would be taken.
Two people died and two others were seriously injured in separate road accidents in Kaushambi district, police said on Monday.
In the first incident, Sajwanti (40) was killed when a speeding motorcycle rammed into her family's bike near Terahmeel turn under the Sandipan Ghat police station limits on Sunday evening. Her husband, Dharmanaryan, and their six-year-old son, Ansh, were seriously injured.
The family, residents of Fatehpur Sahavpur village under Pipri police station, were returning from an engagement ceremony in Balihawa village when the accident occurred as they tried to cross the road.
All three were thrown off the bike and sustained critical injuries.
They were rushed to a private hospital and later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj, where Sajwanti died on Monday morning. The motorcyclist fled the scene. Police sent the body for a post-mortem examination and launched an investigation.
In a separate incident on Monday morning, Lalchandra (35), a labourer, died after falling from a tractor and being crushed under its wheel near a petrol pump in Kasenda village under Pipri police station.
A resident of Ward No. 3, Gandhi Nagar in Chayal Nagar Panchayat, he was travelling for work when he reportedly lost balance and fell, dying on the spot.
Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination, seized the tractor, and are searching for the driver, who fled the scene....
