PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 19 -- The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has once again postponed the Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) recruitment exam for filling up vacant posts of Lecturer/Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), marking the fifth delay since 2022. The exam, scheduled for December 18-19, has been postponed till further notice. Officials suggest that the delay is due to the pending appointment of a new chairman for the Commission. The Commission's first regular chairperson, Prof Kirti Pandey had resigned citing "personal reasons" just a year into her three-year appointment in September 2025. On Tuesday, the UPESSC deputy secretary issued a communique informing that the Lecturer/PGT exam scheduled for December 18 and 19 were being postponed owing to "unavoidable circumstances" and the fresh dates of the exam would be announced separately. The TGT exam was initially slated for April 4-5, 2025, but was postponed. Subsequent dates, including May 14-15, July 21-22, and July 30-31, also failed to materialize. This exam is for 3,539 vacant posts, with over 8.68 lakh applicants. The repeated delays have raised concerns among aspirants, who are anxious about their future.
