Tenant verification, checks at hotels: Intense security drive underway
LUCKNOW, Dec. 24 -- Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, the city police have undertaken 100% verification of tenants and guests at commercial establishments as part of an intense security drive.
"Under Op Pehchan, beat officers have been tasked with sensitising landlords and conducting door-to-door verification to ensure that no unidentified person is residing within the commissionerate limits . The exercise is being treated as a critical preventive measure in view of the high-profile VVIP movement," said JCP (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar.
Simultaneously, security checks have been ramped up at hotels, lodges, guest houses, dharamshalas, restaurants, clubs, railway stations and bus terminals, where the identities of guests are being verified and stay registers are being cross-checked. Continuous checking of suspicious vehicles, luggage and unattended objects is also underway at key locations.
"An intensive security campaign has been launched across the city from December 21 till the night of December 24. Special surveillance is also being maintained along both alternative routes from Amausi airport to the event venue," police officials said.
A massive security deployment has been planned, including more than 4,300 civil police personnel, 18 companies of PAC, four companies of RAF, traffic police, intelligence units and specialised teams such as NSG (sniper and anti-drone units), ATS, anti-drone squads, anti-sabotage and anti-mine teams....
