Teenager gang-raped in lko's Banthra, 1 held
LUCKNOW, Oct. 12 -- A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by five unidentified men in Lucknow's Banthra on Saturday, police said. The crime was committed while the girl was going to meet her elder sister, who lives in a nearby village under Harauni Police outpost limits and had become mother recently, they added.
Late in the night, one of the accused Lalit Kashyap was injured and arrested during an encounter with the police, said ADCP south Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar.
According to the police, the girl, a Class 11 student, along with her male friend left for her elder sister's home on a motorcycle when the five accused allegedly stopped them. They allegedly thrashed the girl's male friend and asked him to leave. Later, they took the girl to a nearby orchard where they allegedly gang-raped her.
Police said the accused also threatened the victim of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. However, she narrated her ordeal to her brother-in-law, who took her to police and reported the crime to the Harauni police outpost following which police officers, including ADCP south Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar, reached the site. Later, the police detained two suspects. The girl's father has filed a complaint against four youths named Chhotu, Babu, Lalit and Vishal.
