PRAYAGRAJ, April 21 -- A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning in Kanjas village under Kandhai police station limits in Pratapgarh, where a teenage girl and her two younger brothers drowned in a pond located outside their home. The victims have been identified as Rani (12), Mohit (9) and Rohit (6), children of Vijay Bahadur Yadav, a mason who has been living with his family under a thatched shelter near the pond for the past five years. According to police, Mohit and Rohit went to bathe in the pond situated directly in front of their shelter on Monday morning at around 9:30 am. When the boys failed to return for a long time, their elder sister Rani went out about an hour later to look for them but also did not come back. By around noon, when none of the three children had returned, their mother began searching for them. Unable to locate them near the pond, she started looking for them inside the village. Meanwhile, a villager passing by the pond noticed Mohit's clothes floating in the water and alerted others after pulling the boy out.
