PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 13 -- In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy from Amethi, who had moved to Prayagraj for further studies and preparation for competitive examinations, is currently receiving treatment at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital after making a bid to cut off his genitals.
Confirming the September 9 incident, senior surgeon and media in-charge at SRN Hospital, Dr Santosh Singh, said the patient was given emergency treatment at the hospital and was now stable.

In the years that followed, he conducted extensive research on gender transition procedures using online platforms. He also consulted medical professionals to better understand the transition process, they added.
Acting alone, the teenager, whose father is a farmer and mother a housewife, reportedly administered anaesthesia and used a surgical blade to remove his genital. When the effects of the anaesthesia waned, he experienced intense pain and heavy bleeding before he called for help.
