Teen kills grandmother over fees, goes to school next morning
LUCKNOW, May 24 -- In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old boy allegedly murdered his 70-year-old grandmother by following a dispute over school fees at a village in Malihabad, according to the police.
After suffocating her with a pillow, the boy stayed in the same bed with his deceased grandmother through the night and then went to school the next morning, possibly to avoid suspicion, according to the complainant. The crime took place on Wednesday night and came to light when the woman, Vidywati's daughter repeatedly called her without a response, prompting her to send a neighbour to check on her. The neighbour found the woman lying dead.
The police found Vidyawati dead with visible marks of injury and scratches on her neck. A forensic team collected evidence from the scene, and the pillow used in the alleged murder was seized. "During questioning, the teenager eventually confessed to the crime. Initially, he attempted to mislead the police, but later admitted the truth," said Malihabad station house officer Surendra Singh Bhati. Following a complaint by the daughter, police took the minor grandson and Vidyawati's brother-in-law into custody. Police stated that formal charges will be filed following the post-mortem report.
SHO Bhati said Vidyawati had been staying with her grandson since the death of her son 10 years ago. Her daughter-in-law had returned to her parental home, leaving the elderly woman to raise the boy alone. About 10 days before the incident, the boy had gone to stay with his granduncle. He returned on Wednesday night to demand money for school fees.
Vidyawati reportedly agreed to pay the fees only if the boy agreed to stay with her, which angered the teenager.
The boy allegedly pushed his grandmother to the floor. Later that night, while they were sleeping in the same room, he smothered her with a pillow.htc...
