teen drowns in Indira canal
LUCKNOW, May 28 -- A 13-year-old boy who had set out to take bath in summer drowned in the Indira Canal near Tera Khas under BBD police station limits.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when the group of children together went out to take a dip without informing their parents.
According to a Lucknow police statement, the victim, identified as Deepanshu, son of Satguru and a resident of Takwa in Vibhuti Khand, had gone to the canal to bathe along with his younger brother (8) and two friends aged 9 and 11.
"The group had ventured into the Kharja Nahar stretch of the canal when the mishap occurred. Around 12:00pm, police received an emergency call regarding the drowning, after which a team from BBD police station rushed to the scene and initiated a search with the assistance of local divers but Deepanshu couldn't be saved," said SHO BBD Ram Singh.
The SHO further added that the body was later fished out and sent for post-mortem examination.htc...
