Teen couple's bodies found hanging in forest
VARANASI, May 15 -- The bodies of a 19-year-old youth and 18-year-old woman were found hanging from a tree in a forested area of Tola Gadwani, under the Panari Gram Panchayat in Chopan police station area. According to officials, the incident came to light when locals who had gone to the forest to collect wood saw the bodies of a young man and a woman hanging from a Tendu Tree. Their faces were turned towards each other, and fish and rice had been placed beneath the bodies.
The police took both bodies down from the tree and sent them for post-mortem examination, stating that the duo had died by suicide.
The deceased were residents of Panari village under Gadwari Tola. Their houses were located about two hundred metres from the incident spot. The police officer said that the boy's kin said that her son had left the house after having breakfast at 11 am. No one knew about their love affair. If they had known, they would have been married. The girl's kin also expressed unawareness about any kind of relationship between the two.
In a suspected suicide attempt, a 30-year-old man jumped in front of a moving train near Raniganj railway gate under Shankargarh police station limits on Wednesday evening. Before anyone could intervene, the train passed over him.
To everyone's shock, the man was found alive with only minor injuries to his hand when locals rushed to check on him.
The man was taken to Shankargarh Community Health Centre by railway police personnel, where he was given first aid. His condition is stated to be normal, officials said.
During questioning, the man showed his Aadhaar card, identifying himself as a resident of Dharmanagar area under Shankargarh police station. However, he refused to reveal any further details, including the reason for his actions, police added.
The car that hit and killed Hridayansh, the 12-year-old son of ADM (Civil Supply) Vijay Sharma, outside Circuit House on the night of May 9 has been traced. Civil Lines police registered a case on Wednesday based on the number of the car allegedly involved in the hit-and-run.
Police have located and seized the vehicle, but no arrests have been made so far. The accused driver, a doctor and son of a serving assistant commissioner posted in Ayodhya, is currently absconding, officials said.
Efforts are underway to arrest the driver, they added.
SHO of Civil Lines police station, Ramashray Yadav, said that on the night of May 9, ADM Vijay Sharma was walking with his wife and son Hridayansh around 10 pm when a speeding car ran over the boy, killing him on the spot.
