Jaipur, Aug. 25 -- A 29-year-old government school teacher in Jhalawar district was suspended on Sunday for allegedly trying to rape a 17-year-old student, police said. Vishnu Singh Rajput, station house officer of Sunel police station, said: "The incident happened on Saturday night when the accused teacher, Shahrukh Khan, invaded the victim's house and tried to rape her. However, her family members and neighbours caught Khan after reaching the spot upon hearing the student screaming. The teacher also sustained minor injuries as the locals thrashed him when he tried to flee from the house." "Prima facie, Khan had been working in that school for the last one year while the student had switched to a new school for her higher secondary level few months back," he said. The SHO said a case has also been registered against him under 75, 76, 331 (5) of BNS and relevant sections of Pocso Act. "Victim's medical examination has been conducted. The teacher was suspended by the district education officer. Further probe is underway," he added....
