TB patient adoption prog organised at RMLIMS
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- A special programme on "TB Patient Adoption for a TB Mukt Bharat under Nikshay Mitra Abhiyan" was organised at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, to promote community participation in the fight against tuberculosis.
The programme was organised by the department of respiratory medicine and NTEPCore Committee, RMLIMS, Lucknow, read a press release shared with the media on Wednesday.
Sherwood College of Professional Management of Indira Nagar adopted 50 TB patients, extending their commitment to provide nutritional support packets and social care for the entire duration of treatment, it stated.
Prof Surya Kant from KGMU appealed to all sections of society, especially medical college faculty, to come forward as Nikshay Mitras.
He also emphasised that the National Medical Commission has advised keeping at least one dedicated ICU bed for TB patients separate from general ICUs.
Prof Rajendra Prasad, HoD and organising chairman, stressed on academic advancement by starting DM super- speciality courses in pulmonary medicine for strengthening expertise in respiratory diseases.
Prof CM Singh, director, RMLIMS, announced that the institute is preparing to start an MD course in respiratory medicine next year, with plans to initiate a DM super-speciality in pulmonary medicine in the near future....
