Lucknow, June 11 -- For the first time, a woman successfully underwent a free total hip replacement surgery at TB and Combined Hospital, Thakurganj, Lucknow, under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, said the authorities on Tuesday. Seema, a 55-year-old woman from Hardoi, had suffered a hip fracture in a rickshaw accident a year ago and had sought treatment at various hospitals without success. She fell from the rickshaw due to a pothole and fractured her hip. Despite visiting several hospitals in Hardoi and Lucknow, her condition did not improve. Her family then consulted orthopedic surgeon Dr AK Pandey at the hospital. After a month of treatment and consultation, Seema's family agreed to the hip replacement surgery. On June 2, Dr AK Pandey, Dr Rajesh Prajapati and Dr Shahid Ansari performed the surgery with their team.
