LUCKNOW, Dec. 20 -- The second day of the three-day centenary celebrations of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya began with a tabla recital by renowned maestro Ustad Akram Ali Khan at the Kalamandapam auditorium on Friday. During an interaction session moderated by prof Srishti Mathur, head of the university's vocal music department, Khan said that besides a deep understanding of rhythm, an accomplished tabla player must also understand the music and personality of the artiste being accompanied. Later, the complete journey of the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak was presented through a special performance by three generations of artistes. In the evening, a play titled 'Mohe Piya', directed by prof Waman Kendre, was staged. The play is an adaptation of 'Madhyam Vyayoga' by renowned Sanskrit playwright Bhasa and narrates the reunion of Bhima and Ghatotkacha .
