Lucknow, July 13 -- After the authorities managed to drive the huge swarm of locusts out of Lucknow borders, the foreign pests settled on crops in around half-a-dozen villages under the Karnailganj block of Gonda. Another swarm was spotted at a few villages under three blocks in Sitapur district on Sunday night. "The swarm that attacked Lucknow was successfully chased away and it flew towards Gonda," additional chief secretary, agriculture, Devesh Chaturvedi said earlier. He claimed the locusts did not cause harm in Lucknow because they were not allowed to stay. However, the danger is not over. "Though we chased them away today, the possibility of another swarm coming from the same side cannot be ruled out," deputy director, agriculture, CP Srivastava said, adding, "We are in alert mode."
