SUV crashes into house, injures two; 4 booked
LUCKNOW, July 3 -- An SUV with a 'BJP block chief' sticker and Uttarakhand number plate, rammed into a house in central Lucknow's Santguru Ravidas Nagar, late on Tuesday night, leaving two residents injured and triggering a political controversy.
The white Scorpio (UK04Q6954) ploughed through a shop front and boundary wall, crashing into the living quarters of Vijay and his wife, Gyanmati. Vijay and their son, Deepak, suffered minor injuries.
One of the vehicle's passengers was injured, while the remaining three occupants, reported to include a woman, fled the scene, said police.
The incident took place under the Hazratganj police station limits. SHO Vikram Singh confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on a written complaint from Gyanmati.
Police also recovered liquor bottles and other intoxicants from the SUV.
The most controversial detail was the BJP block pramukh sticker on the windshield, raising allegations of misuse of power. The Congress party accused the BJP of promoting a culture of impunity.
