Suspects quizzed, no formal complaint yet
Rudrapur, Jan. 20 -- Some suspects were taken into custody for questioning in the case pertaining to the attack on Congress MLA's son Saurabh Raj Behar on Sunday, police said, adding that they are yet to receive an official complaint from the MLA's family in the matter.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Udham Singh Nagar, Manikant Mishra said: "Though police haven't received any complaint from Behar family till Monday evening. However, police and SOG are scanning CCTV cameras and CDR (call detail report) to identify the accused."
Saurabh, a municipal councilor and son of former cabinet minister Tilak Raj Behar, who is a congress MLA from Kichha now, was on the way to Awas-vikas colony police outpost in the evening by a scooter.
He was to participate in a meeting to settle a dispute. As he reached around 100-metre away from his residence, suddenly three bike-borne and masked men emerged from a street and kicked his scooter.
Behar lost control over scooter and fell down, two bikers got down from the bike and beat him indiscriminately and fled. Behar received severe injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.
On hearing the attack, former minister Behar and other leaders and party workers reached the hospital and demanded immediate arrest of the men involved in the attack.
Former minister Tilak Behar said, "Police should nab the accused immediately. We want to know who the attackers were and who sent them. If police fail to identify them we will try to find them with our own sources." On information, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also contacted Behar and assured stern action against the accused....
