Super specialty block to house facilities for 3 types of transplants
	
		
				LUCKNOW, Sept. 10 -- A transplant centre is set to open soon at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), providing a one-stop solution for various types of transplants, including kidney, liver, and bone marrow. The institute currently has over 1100 beds, mostly occupied, and receives more than 3,200 patients in its OPD daily, said RMLIMS authorities on Tuesday.
Prof CM Singh, director, RMLIMS, said that preparations are underway to start liver and bone marrow transplants soon. The necessary resources are being gathered, and a dedicated floor in the super specialty block will carry out all three types of transplants.
The establishment of the transplant centre will provide relief to patients, who currently have to visit other institutions like KGMU for liver transplants and PGI for bone marrow transplants. The new centre will offer a comprehensive range of transplant services under one roof.
He said that the transplant preparations are in the final stages. Essential tests for bone marrow transplant patients have been conducted and the facility will be made available soon.
