Agra, Dec. 31 -- Amidst the protest lodged by right wing bodies in Mathura and Vrindavan, the event for New Year featuring actress Sunny Leone was called off. The event was scheduled for January 1 and was being organised by a club at a hotel in Mathura city for a selected 300 audience for which plans were final and Sunny Leone was also paid the advance, said the organisers. Mitul Pathak, the organiser said that he had called off the event after he came to know about the opposition being lodged. 'We were simply welcoming the New Year in our own way by organising the event where actress Sunny Leone was invited," said Pathak. "We had been organising events for New Year every time and this time invited Sunny Leone who accepted the proposal and formalities, including advance was paid but we were not aware about the intensity of protest lodged. Being a club we were not prepared for any chaos during the event and thus called it off," stated Pathak. Pathak confirmed that no prior permission was sought as it was a routine event of the New Year by a club for a limited number of people. Dinesh Sharma alias Dinesh Falahari heading the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Nyas led the protest and wrote a letter to district magistrate demanding cancellation of the event. "Such events cannot be allowed on Brajbhoomi (land of Mathura) where seers offer prayers and the land has its own sanctity known worldwide. We lodged protest because such indecent events tarnish the image of religious places" stressed Dinesh Sharma. "We welcome cancellation of the event and will urge others to keep away from organising such events in our holy place," stated Sharma. Another saint, Madhusudan Maharaj too had lodged an objection to it. "We have tradition of devotion in our city of Mathura where no indecent event could be allowed," he said....
