Students must, think Rationally, have scientific outlook: Mande
LUCKNOW, Sept. 11 -- Former director of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Shekhar C Mande, speaking at the convocation ceremony of Lucknow University on Wednesday, emphasised the need for students to develop a scientific outlook and rational thinking.
"You must cultivate a scientific outlook and focus on fostering equality in society. Science teaches us to rely on evidence in all aspects of life rather than on hearsay. As the dominant species on the planet, we also carry a responsibility to conserve the environment," Mande said.
"We must look beyond degrees, analyse problems, and propose possible solutions. It is time we fully imbibed the values of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. As fresh graduates, you must read Mahatma Gandhi's 'Seven Social Sins', learn about the life of Gautama Buddha and embrace honesty, empathy, courage and non-violence," he added....
