Students lead LMC's cleanliness campaign
LUCKNOW, Sept. 23 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Monday launched a citywide cleanliness campaign under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' programme, with school students taking the lead in spreading awareness about waste segregation, plastic-free practices, and hygiene, an LMC release read on Monday.
The drive covered all eight zones of the city. Corporators, zonal officers, municipal staff, voluntary organisations, and resident welfare associations joined the effort, which emphasised making cleanliness a lifestyle rather than a one-day activity.
The highlight of the campaign was participation from students across schools. Competitions, rallies, sports events, and cultural programmes were organised to promote cleanliness and environmental protection.
Students also took a collective oath to keep their homes, neighborhoods, and schools clean. Additional municipal commissioner Arvind Kumar Rao appreciated their creativity and awarded winners of the contests.
Along with school activities, LMC carried out special drives in markets, temples, parks, and residential areas. Teams undertook garbage collection, drain cleaning, anti-larvae spraying, and proper waste disposal....
