Students from deprived sections to get scholarships for studying abroad: Min
Lucknow, Sept. 16 -- Talented students from the deprived sections of the society will now get a chance to fulfil their dreams of going to foreign countries for higher education. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has invited applications for the selection year 2025-26 under the National Foreign Scholarship Scheme.
The aim of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to economically weaker students from Scheduled Castes, Nomadic / Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisan Families for Masters and PhD level studies in top 500 universities / institutions abroad. This information was shared by minister of state for social welfare (independent charge) Asim Arun on Monday.
The deputy director of Social Welfare Department AK Singh has said that the application process for this scholarship will start from September 15 and will end on October 24 on the NOS portal https://nosmsje.gov.in. Candidates who have already applied can make amendments from October 26 to 29.
Thirty percent of seats for the scholarship are reserved for women. The department has appealed to the eligible students to take maximum advantage of this opportunity.To avail the benefits of this scheme, minimum 60 percent marks in graduation are mandatory. The maximum age of the candidate should be 35 years and the family annual income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh.
