Students' tryst with wildlife conservation
LUCKNOW, May 5 -- In a push for eco-tourism promotion and environmental awareness among youths, the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) organised a special one-day educational tour for the students of MD Shukla Inter College in the state capital to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday.
The students from MD Shukla Inter College's Youth Tourism Club travelled from Bichhia to Mailani on board the Vistadome train, known for its panoramic windows and immersive views. Along the scenic route, the group experienced the region's rich biodiversity and learned about the vital role of wildlife conservation.
During the course of the visit, interactive sessions and field experiences introduced the students to the diverse ecosystems of Dudhwa and Katarniaghat. Wildlife sightings included tigers, swamp deer, rhinoceroses, and rare bird species.
The initiative also hosted prominent social media influencers from across the country as part of a familiarisation (FAM) tour, encouraging them to amplify the message of conservation and showcase Uttar Pradesh's ecological treasures to a global audience.
Director, tourism, Prakhar Mishra, Board's senior advisor Rajeev Garg, and senior officials from the forest and tourism departments engaged with the students, highlighting career opportunities in eco-tourism and the state's growing potential in this sector.
Principal secretary, tourism and culture, Mukesh Meshram praised the initiative, stating that through platforms like the Youth Tourism Club, the state is fostering a sense of responsibility in the younger generation while positioning Uttar Pradesh as a prominent eco-tourism destination on the national map....
