Student taken off ventilator after basketball post mishap
India, Nov. 14 -- Lucknow: A Class 11 student, who was battling for life after being severely injured when a basketball pole fell on him at a renowned school on Kanpur Road, was taken off the ventilator on Thursday following improvement in his condition, confirmed King George's Medical University (KGMU) authorities.
The student, Akshay Shukla, had suffered brain haemorrhage and multiple fractures in the incident on Monday. KGMU spokesperson Dr K.K. Singh said Akshay's condition has now stabilised. "He has been removed from the ventilator and is under close observation of neurosurgeons and orthopaedic specialists. His vital parameters are improving," he said.
The accident occurred around 11 am during a game, when the basketball post suddenly collapsed. Police said they are in touch with the boy's family, though no formal complaint has been filed yet. Efforts to reach the school and district administration for comment remained unsuccessful.htc...
