Student killed as truck drags her for 25 feet
PRAYAGRAJ, March 14 -- A truck ran over a Class 11 student on Friday morning in the Phulpur police station area of Prayagraj, killing her on the spot. The girl, who was cycling to her coaching class, got trapped under the truck's wheels and was dragged for nearly 25 feet. The victim was identified as Prachi ,17, daughter of farmer Anand Bahadur Yadav of Alemau village. She was a student of Adarsh Inter College and had left home around 7am to attend coaching classes. Police said the accident took place near Pal Bazaar in Mehndipur village when a truck carrying flour allegedly hit her from behind.
The impact caused her to fall under the vehicle's wheels, leading to her death on the spot. Angry villagers caught the driver and beat him up before police rescued him and took him into custody. Additional police forces from Phulpur, Bahariya and nearby police stations were deployed to control the situation. ACP (Phulpur) Vivek Yadav reached the spot and tried to pacify the family members, who demanded that the district magistrate visit the site.
