Structural audit: IIT Roorkee expert visits Banke Bihari temple
Agra, Nov. 14 -- An expert from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee visited the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan on Thursday in connection with a detailed structural audit of the temple to assess its stability and safety.
The expert, Professor Sanjay Singh of IIT Roorkee, moved around the temple premises to assess what set of equipment and specialists needed to be sent for the detailed structural audit.
The Supreme Court-appointed high powered committee had taken a host of decisions at a meeting on September 11.
A structural audit of the temple premises was among these decisions.
"The expert from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will stay here for two days and will work out how safe is the structure, which is visited by lakhs of devotees daily, and how 'darshan' for them can be made smooth," Mathura district magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said.
The expert visited the entry and exit gates, the sanctum sanctorum, platform and had a look at the lanes leading to the temple.
High powered committee member Dinesh Goswami accompanied the expert.
"The team of experts with the required equipment will follow in a week or so," Dinesh Goswami said....
