LUCKNOW, Sept. 18 -- The UP Special Task Force (STF) arrested a murder accused who had been on the run after escaping from police custody during treatment earlier this year. The accused, Shivkumar alias Bablu, 59, a resident of Rahim Nagar under Mahanagar police station limits, was arrested in Wazirganj around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, officials said. According to the police, Shivkumar had frequent disputes with his son over his drinking habit. On March 22, during one such quarrel, he allegedly attacked his son on the head with a hammer, leaving him critically injured. The son later died during treatment, following which a murder case was registered at Mahanagar police station. Shivkumar was arrested and sent to jail. However, on May 19, while undergoing treatment at Balrampur Hospital, he managed to escape by dodging the police team deployed there. The STF team, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid and arrested him on September 16. "The accused has been handed over to the Wazirganj police, and further legal proceedings are underway," an STF official said....
