STF arrests criminal carrying Rs 50K reward in state capital
LUCKNOW, July 2 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested a wanted criminal, Shahrukh, who had a cash reward of Rs.50,000 on his head, on Tuesday. The arrest was made near Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.
Shahrukh was wanted in an assault case registered at Patti police station, in Pratapgarh district and a reward was declared on him by the UP Police.
The arrest was made by an STF team following intelligence inputs. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dy SP Dharmesh Kumar Shahi of STF Headquarters, Lucknow.
According to police records, Shahrukh, a resident of village Garwaripur, police station Antu, district Pratapgarh, was wanted under Sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 61(2), 109(1), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment (CLA) Act.
The FIR was lodged by complainant Altaf Ahmad, who accused Shahrukh and his associates of assaulting and abusing a man named Ikhlaq and others on June 17, in the Patti area. Following the incident, Shahrukh went into hiding.
"Shahrukh confessed to his involvement in the said incident. He admitted that after the clash in Patti, he had been frequently changing locations to evade police action," said Dy SP Shahi....
