PRAYAGRAJ, May 19 -- Police are working on all angles in the case of the nursery student who died under mysterious circumstances at a school in Mahewa Patti under Naini police station limits on May 15, said DCP (Trans-Yamuna) Vivek Yadav.
He said CCTV footage from the area is being scanned and statements of both accused teachers have been recorded. On the reported sexual assault in the postmortem report, he said a second medical opinion suggested the child may have been ill, constipated, or assaulted by an adolescent. "There are some points the police are cross-checking. Hopefully, the culprit will be caught soon," he added.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased child said he is losing hope of getting justice. He alleged that police and doctors at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH) have deliberately delayed providing the FIR and postmortem report, possibly to shield the guilty.
"My son was healthy when I took him to school, and two hours later, he was dead. Media reports mention sexual assault in the postmortem. Where is the culprit?" he said.
On Saturday, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Chaka recorded statements of the two teachers accused by the family. Their responses differed on several common questions, raising suspicion of a cover-up.
In a report to the Basic Shiksha Adhikari, the BEO highlighted these discrepancies and recommended suspending the teachers during the investigation and filing a case under relevant sections.
The incident occurred last Thursday and doctors declared him dead upon arrival at the hospital. A case of culpable homicide was registered based on the family's complaint, but the FIR names two unidentified persons....
