LUCKNOW, June 15 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch a large-scale public campaign focussed on groundwater conservation. For the first time, the initiative will involve active participation from students, teachers, citizens, NGOs, and various stakeholders through a series of statewide events. A government spokesperson said a four-month action plan has been outlined to implement the campaign. The campaign aims to foster long-term awareness about water resources and enhance groundwater levels through widespread community participation. By promoting a culture of water conservation, initiative is considered a crucial step toward ensuring the sustainability of future water needs, according to the press release. As part of the initiative, 300 groundwater rallies will be organised across various districts of the state, with special participation from school children and teachers. Additionally, 19 major public awareness programmes will be conducted to sensitise citizens about the critical importance of groundwater conservation, the spokesperson added. The campaign will also include short seminars on water conservation, featuring subject matter experts who will discuss practical solutions and sustainable methods for managing and preserving water. These sessions aim to motivate the public to adopt more disciplined and responsible water usage habits. This campaign is designed to be a collective mission involving all sections of society. NGOs, social organisations, educational institutions, local panchayat representatives, and administrative officers will play an active role in its execution. This inclusive approach is expected to strengthen grassroots awareness and mobilise collective action.
