Dehradun, Jan. 6 -- Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (UKPCC) chief Ganesh Godiyal on Monday launched a protest march from Gauchar in Chamoli district, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Pauri Garhwal receptionist woman murder case. "The government is sitting on the evidence. Whatever evidence still remains is not being allowed to come out, which is why people are protesting. It is the government's responsibility to order a CBI investigation under the supervision of a sitting judge," Godiyal said. Meanwhile, BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said the Congress was attempting to confuse people, but claimed that the public no longer trusted the party. "Our party's stand is clear. If anyone has conclusive evidence, they should come forward," he said. BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt accused the Congress and other opposition parties of indulging in politically motivated protests. "The opposition is not fighting for justice for the Pauri receptionist girl but for its own political existence. The political flags being waved during protests clearly expose the intentions of the opposition and those nurturing ambitions for the 2027 elections," he said....
