Haldwani, Nov. 7 -- In a bid to curb the growing menace of online fraud targeting tourists, the Uttarakhand forest department has prohibited the display or promotion of private safari booking websites on gypsies operating inside the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The move follows multiple complaints of visitors being duped through fake websites that mimic the park's official booking portal. Corbett Tiger Reserve director Saket Badola said that the department had received repeated reports of fraudulent websites offering fake safari bookings using names resembling the Corbett Tiger Reserve. "Cyber fraudsters are luring unsuspecting tourists by posing as government officials or travel agents and taking payments for bogus bookings. We are taking action to identify and shut down such websites," he said. He added that during inspections, some gypsy operators were found displaying names of these fake websites on their vehicles, which further misled visitors. "This will not be tolerated. Any operator found promoting unauthorised websites or private booking links will face suspension or a ban on entry," he said....
