State achieves 70.6% of enrolment target under RTE
Lucknow, May 2 -- The impact of the strict approach of the Basic Education Department regarding enrolments under the Right to Education Act (RTE) is visible in the state. Against the total allotment of 1,95,740 seats for children from weaker and disadvantaged sections,1,38,180 children have been enrolled so far in private schools, spokesperson said.
"This is approximately 70.6% of the total target. As of April 26, this number was 1,24,545, but within three days, by April 29, 13,635 additional enrolments were done," an official said.
Following instructions from additional chief secretary of Basic and Secondary Education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, the pace of work has improved and the enrollment process has accelerated. It has been clearly stated that no eligible child should be left out under RTE admissions, spokesperson said.
