Lucknow, June 19 -- The state urban development department (UDD) held a stakeholder consultation on Wednesday on its Smart Palika initiative that aims to upgrade infrastructure, enhance municipal services, and introduce modern governance practices across 58 Nagar Palika Parishads (NPPs) located in district headquarter towns. The consultation was chaired by principal secretary, urban development, Amrit Abhijat in the state capital. Smart Palika is not just about technology, but about inclusive development, efficient public service delivery, and sustainable urban planning, said special secretary, urban development, Arun Prakash. Key proposals under the scheme include infrastructure modernisation, adoption of e-governance platforms, integrated and inclusive service delivery, innovative public-private partnerships, and environmental sustainability. The deployment of urban fellows in local bodies to strengthen on-ground implementation and planning is also being considered.
