PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 21 -- District magistrate Manish Kumar Verma conducted a surprise inspection at Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital, also known as Beli hospital, and took stock of arrangements of health facilities available to patients here on Wednesday. The DM reviewed the attendance register and found several doctors absent from their duties, including Dr RC Tripathi (surgeon), Dr Abhishek Mishra (anaesthesiologist), Dr Manisha Agarwal (dentist), Dr Saini Tiwari (anaesthesiologist), Dr RS Thakur (surgeon), Dr Vimlendu Shekhar (dermatologist), Dr Suresh Singh (pathologist) and Dr Manish Kumar Mishra (microbiologist). The district magistrate directed the chief medical superintendent to seek explanation from the staff found absent from their duties and submit it within a week at his office. Taking cognizance of anaesthesiologist Dr Abhishek Mishra remaining absent from his duties since January without any prior information, the DM directed for sending a letter to the government for initiation of action against him. The DM also inspected the functioning of OPD, registration counter, report counter, payment counter, MRI room, digital X-ray room, etc and interacted with patients and their family members to know about the treatment facilities. He reached the OPD registration counter and inquired about the number of registrations done in the OPD on Wednesday, on which he was told that 456 registrations had been done till 9.20am. He also instructed for making seating arrangements for the people waiting outside the OPD and directed for the installation of token generation machines and waiting number display machines in every OPD room. The DM has asked the medical superintendent to take necessary action to make arrangements for the children coming to the hospital premises to play and keep toys in the vacant space....
