Rudrapur, Sept. 10 -- The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) will set up a new border outpost (BOP) in the remote Thapliyal Khera village at the India-Nepal border in Champawat district, officials aware of the matter said. The Forest department handed over land transfer-related documents to the SSB officials on Monday to set up the new outpost. Anil Kumar Sharma, DIG, SSB said, "It is a big achievement for the SSB that the forest department has transferred its land for BOP. The construction of BOP will be started soon and it will assist SSB for the 24x7 monitoring of the border." Thapliyal Khera is a remote village and close to Indo-Nepal border in Tanakpur of Champawat district. It is located on forest land and shares its boundary with the Indo-Nepal border. One has to cross the Tanakpur barrage built over Sharda River to reach the village. According to officials, SSB had been demanding the land for its BOP in Thapliyal Khera village. The forest department has transferred 0.99-hectare land to the SSB. Forest department's sub divisional officer Shalini Joshi handed over the land transferred documents to the SSB's senior officer in a brief function held at Thapliyal Khera. Manohar Lal Commandant, 57bn SSB said, "A state-of-the-art BOP will come up in Thapliyal Khera which will ensure not only monitoring but also intensive patrolling across the border. The BOP will strengthen the security of the nation as well as check human trafficking and anti-national activities.
