Srishti wins golf tourney in Nainital
LUCKNOW, June 4 -- Versatile sportswoman from Lucknow Srishti Dhaon once again stamped her supremacy in golf, winning the ladies' title at the Governors' Cup Golf Tournament in Nainital, pushing Sharanya Shah to the second spot.
Second generation of one of the well-known families of sportspersons in the state capital, Srishti has been a national bronze medallist in triathlon and is currently heading the Lucknow's Bhatkhande University as registrar and holds the post of additional director, culture of Uttar Pradesh.
Srishti's mom Rashmi Dhaon, brother Indra Dhaon and even six-year-old daughter Elakshi, too have been golfers as well as swimmers and taekwondo exponents. "At the start, she wasn't ready but once she started playing golf and winning the local events, she took the game seriously and we both won many titles at the Tollygunge Golf Club in Kolkata, Northern India Open at New Delhi and even at Chandigarh,' said Rashmi Dhaon.
The love for golf also caught the attention of son Indra Dhaon, who too went on winning many professional titles in Lucknow and other states, besides playing in Malaysia and some other countries.
"Swimming remains the first love of the family and even now we do enjoy the sport, besides playing golf," said Rashmi, who said that even Srishti's daughter Elakshi too has been playing golf....
