Spl NIA court frames sedition, other charges against Chhangur Baba
Lucknow, April 19 -- Dismissing the discharge application filed by the accused in an illegal conversion case, the Special NIA Court on Saturday framed serious charges against Jamaluddin alias Chhangur Baba and his associates under sections pertaining to sedition, fraudulent conversion, cheating, and gang rape
After a six-hour hearing, special judge Neetu Pathak framed the charges.
The UP ATS had arrested Jamaluddin alias Chhangur Baba and his associates from Balrampur in July last year.
Waging war against govt (IPC Section 121A): The accused allegedly conspired to alter the country's demography, overthrow the democratically elected government, and establish an Islamic State by implementing Sharia law in India.
Promoting enmity between communities (IPC Section 153A): Accused of maligning Hinduism, insulting deities, and inciting people to convert to Islam to create hatred between communities.
Fraudulent conversion: Non-Muslim women were allegedly trapped by the accused who used fake Hindu identities and coerced into conversion through deception.
Gang rape and SC/ST Act (IPC Section 376D): Charges have also been framed for the alleged gang rape of a Scheduled Caste woman by the accused Naveen Rohra and Mahboob, along with sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act....
