Lucknow, Dec. 2 -- A 15-year-old Class 10 student was killed and three others were seriously injured after a speeding truck hit a cyclist and then rammed into a car in Juggaur area under BBD police station limits on Monday evening. Police identified the deceased as Shani Kannaujia, 15, son of Birendra Kannaujia, a Class 10 student at the Government School in Juggaur. He was returning home from school on his bicycle around 4:20 pm when the accident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was moving at a high speed when it first hit the cyclist, dragging him several metres. In an attempt to flee, the driver rammed into a car moving ahead, causing the vehicle to crumple under the impact. Police said Shani and the injured were rushed to Lohia hospital, where doctors declared the teenager dead during treatment. Eyewitnesses told the police the truck was "at very high speed" and that after hitting the cyclist, the driver "continued to drive recklessly" before smashing into the car. Local residents caught the driver before he could escape. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash. The injured were identified as Rakesh, the truck driver who is a resident of Barabanki, Sachin Yadav, 20, a law student at a private college and Anand kanaujia, 21, a student of BBD, and an engineering student at a private college.
