Meerut, Oct. 14 -- In a tragic road accident on Monday morning, two men lost their lives after a speeding milk tanker collided with their motorcycle near the roundabout on the Meerut-Karnal Highway in Jhinjana, Shamli district. According to police, the victims - identified as Sonu (25), son of Sajid, a resident of Sajid Nagar in Jhinjana, and Arif (45), son of Yasin, a resident of Balla Majra village- were on their way to Shamli to cook food when the fatal crash took place. The tanker, reportedly moving at high speed, hit their motorcycle with tremendous force, leaving it completely mangled. Both men were thrown off the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the loud impact and immediately informed the police. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital with the help of police and family members. However, given their critical condition, they were referred to a higher medical centre in Meerut, where both succumbed during treatment. Following the accident, the milk tanker driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have seized the tanker and taken it to the station for further investigation.
