PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 6 -- A 12-year-old school student was tragically crushed to death by a speeding dumper truck near Bhola crossing in Ajhuha town of Kaushambi district on Tuesday morning. The incident sparked public outrage, leading to a two-hour blockade of the busy Prayagraj-Kanpur National Highway by local residents, police said. According to officials, the victim, Jigar-a Class 7 student at Dharma Devi Inter College and resident of Parsipur village under Saini police station limits-was riding his bicycle to school alongside his elder sister, Prachi. As they neared Bhola Chauraha, a dumper truck hit them from behind and ran over Jigar, killing him instantly. Jigar's father, Dinesh Prajapati, works in Kanpur making earthenware. He and his wife have four daughters; Jigar was their only son. Furious locals gathered at the accident site and staged a road blockade, demanding the presence of the district magistrate (DM) and superintendent of police (SP). They also called for immediate safety measures, including the installation of a traffic police post at the intersection, stricter regulation of e-rickshaw drivers, and deployment of police personnel during school hours to assist children in crossing the road. "The body has been sent for postmortem. Legal proceedings are underway based on the family's written complaint. The dumper truck has been seized, and efforts to locate the driver are ongoing," ASP Rajesh Kumar Singh said.htc...
