Special panel to oversee U.P. assistant professor recruitment
PRAYAGRAJ, June 15 -- The remaining recruitment process for assistant professors in government-aided degree colleges of Uttar Pradesh, for which the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) conducted the exam on April 16 and 17, will now be completed under the supervision of a specially-formed state government committee.
The four-member committee, which includes an additional superintendent of police from the UP STF, will oversee the entire process, from checking answer sheets to releasing cutoffs and the final selection of candidates. This recruitment, under Advertisement No. 51, aims to fill 910 vacant posts in 331 government-aided degree colleges, as informed by officials from the state secondary education department.
Special secretary (higher education) Girijesh Kumar Tyagi confirmed the committee's formation, stating that the order was issued on June 12. He added that the order is based on a state government decision and will ensure the timely and robust completion of the recruitment process by UPESSC.
The committee members, as per a missive copied to HT, are Prayagraj ADM (City) Satyam Mishra, additional superintendent of police Geetanjali Singh from the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, additional superintendent of police Vishal Vikram Singh from STF and assistant director (higher education directorate), Prayagraj, Ajit Kumar Singh.
The commission conducted the examination for 910 assistant professor subjects on April 16 and 17. A total of 1.14 lakh candidates applied, and over 82,000 shortlisted candidates received admit cards to appear for the exam at 52 centers across the state. Officials acknowledge that it is possibly the first time an external committee has been formed to complete a selection process after the written examination for recruitment.
Notably, a day after the assistant professor recruitment examination concluded, on April 18, the UPSTF arrested an outsourced employee, Mehboob Ali, along with two others. According to the STF, they had duped candidates by preparing a fake question paper for the assistant professor examination....
