LUCKNOW, Jan. 8 -- The Lucknow police carried out a special enforcement drive at several busy intersections, on Wednesday, in an effort to ease congestion and strengthen traffic management in the state capital. These intersections include Nishatganj, Qaiserbagh, Ashok Lat and Lalbagh crossings. Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Kamlesh Dixit said that the campaign was initiated to remove road encroachments that cause traffic bottlenecks in these areas. "During the drive, police teams identified and removed illegally placed stalls, handcarts, fruit sellers and kiosks on the roads and near the intersections which were obstructing traffic flow. Encroachments on footpaths were also targeted, and shopkeepers operating illegally on pavements in and around the crossings were instructed to clear the space immediately," the DCP added. Police officials also issued clear directions to commercial establishments located near the crossings, asking them to ensure that vehicles belonging to customers or staff are not parked by the roadside.HTC...
